X-Quad - Tie Rod Adjustment & Alignment

If you're experiencing any irregularities or bumpiness in your X-Quad front wheels, it may indicate that your wheels are misaligned. Check the alignment of your wheels. If any of the front wheels are turning outward or inward, it's an indication that the tie rods need adjustment.

Follow these steps to adjust your front two tie rods for optimal tire performance:

Step 1: Gather Necessary Tools

• You only need an adjustable wrench for this task.
  

Step 2: Locate the Tie Rods

Find the tie rods on both sides of your front wheels. Each tie rod has two locking nuts on either side. They are black.

Step 3: Loosen the Locking Nuts

Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the locking nuts on both ends of the tie rods on each side of your X-Quad.

Step 4: Adjust the Tie Rods

Once the nuts are loose, you can begin to start turn the tie rod using your hand.

The direction in which you turn depends on the misalignment of your wheel. If the wheel is pointing inward, turn the tie rod outward (away from the chassis). If the wheel is pointing outward, turn the tie rod inward (towards the chassis).

Step 5: Check the Alignment

After adjusting, check the alignment of the wheels. The goal is to have both wheels perfectly straight.

Step 6: Fine-Tune the Adjustment

If needed, continue to adjust the tie rod slightly until the wheels are perfectly aligned.

Step 7: Recheck After Lowering the Vehicle:

If the vehicle was raised during adjustment, lower it back to the ground. Recheck the alignment and make further adjustments if necessary.

Step 8: Tighten the Locking Nuts

Once the wheels are properly aligned, carefully tighten the locking nuts on the tie rods without moving the tie rod. This ensures the alignment stays intact.

Step 9: Final Inspection

Double-check the alignment to ensure the wheels are not towing in or out. Ensure that your ride is smooth and free from any jittery or bumpy feelings.

Step 10: Test Drive

Take the vehicle for a test drive to confirm that the adjustments have improved the alignment and handling.

Step 11: Ready to Ride

Your tie rods are now properly adjusted, which should improve tire tread wear and overall ride quality.
