Then locate the brake hose guide and feed the brake hose through the hole. Installing Brake Hose Spring with Rubber Cover Now that you have your brake line fed through the guiding mount, take one of the brake hose springs with rubber cover. Feeding the narrow end first onto the brake hose. Install Metal Pin with Center Hole on Brake Arm Using the metal pin with center hole and your right drum brake, insert the pin into the arm of the brake, it should slide into the circular hole at the end of the arm. Make sure that you are using the correct drum brake before installing the brake hose onto the brake. Your brake arm should be vertical and in the front when installed on the steering arm. Feed Brake Hose End through the Center Hole Taking your drum brake, feed the end of the brake hose with the spring on it into the center hole of the pin that is inside the brake drum arm. Attach Brake Hose Screw Take the brake hose screw and slightly screw it onto the end of the hose.. Pull back Rubber Cover to expose the Metal End and Wire on the Brake Hose Pull the spring and rubber cover down slightly to expose the metal on the hose. Slide the expose wire and metal piece into the bracket on the drum brake. It should now look like this when done correctly. Attach the Mounting Screw and Spacer for Drum Brake Find the mounting screws and spacers from your hardware set. Feed the screw through the hole in the wheel mount. Place the spacer over the screw and slightly tighten it to this hole on the drum brake. Insert Wheel Bolt Spacer Behind Drum Brake and Install Front Wheel Once the drum brake has been hand tightened, find your wheel bolt spacer and wheel bolt with red Loctite. Move the drum brake out of the way of the hole, position the spacer behind the drum brake. If it does not fit, loosen the mounting screw holding the drum brake in place. *A easier way to ensure the spacer is in the correct position, is to insert your wheel bolt into the hole and slightly tighten it. Then fully tighten down the drum brake from the mounting screw. This will ensure that your wheel bolt goes in smoothly and correctly aligns with the threads of the hole. Untighten the wheel bolt from the hole once the drum brake has been fully secured and tightened down. Insert the wheel bolt into the outside of your wheel, then carefully inserting it into the mounting hole. Using a hex wrench, tighten down the wheel bolt until snug. Your right wheel is now ready to roll. Installing your Left Front Wheel and Drum Brake Moving onto your left front wheel, locate the mounting guide for the brake hose. Feed the end of the hose through the hole. Installing Brake Hose Spring with Rubber Cover Feed the narrow end of the rubber spring onto the end of the brake hose. Install Metal Pin with Center Hole on Brake Arm Using the metal pin with center hole and your left drum brake, insert the pin into the circular hole at the end of the arm. Again, your brake arm should be vertical and in the front when being installed on the steering arm. Feed Brake Hose End through the Center Hole Feed the end of the brake hose through the center hole of the pin. Attach Brake Hose Screw Take the brake hose screw and slightly screw it onto the end of the hose. Pull back Rubber Cover to expose the Metal End and Wire on the Brake Hose Pull the spring and rubber cover down slightly to expose the metal on the hose. Slide the expose wire and metal piece into the bracket on the drum brake. Attach the Mounting Screw and Spacer for Drum Brake Find the remaining mounting screw and spacer from your hardware set. Feed the screw through this hole in the wheel mount. Place the spacer over the screw and slightly tighten it to this hole on the drum brake. Insert Wheel Bolt Spacer Behind Drum Brake and Install Front Wheel Once the drum brake has been attached, find your wheel bolt spacer and wheel bolt with red Loctite. Move the drum brake out of the way of the hole, position the spacer behind the drum brake. If it does not fit, loosen the mounting screw holding the drum brake in place. Insert your wheel bolt into the hole and slightly tighten to ensure that your wheel bolt goes in smoothly and correctly aligns with the threads of the hole. Untighten the wheel bolt from the hole once the drum brake has been fully secured and tightened down. Insert the wheel bolt into the outside of your wheel, then using a hex wrench, tighten down the wheel bolt until snug. Your front drum brakes and wheels are now ready to roll. X-Quad - Recenter your Front Wheel
If you're experiencing any irregularities or bumpiness in your X-Quad front wheels, it may indicate that the wheel hub isn't properly centered on the tire. Watch the How to Video -> Follow these steps to adjust it for optimal performance: Step 1: Gather Necessary Tools Five nuts (to be removed) Hand wrench (to loosen nuts) Something smaller than the diameter of the wheel (to support the wheel during adjustments) Tire inflator (for re-inflation) Step 2: Loosen Wheel Nuts Identify the five nuts securing the wheel hub. Use the hand wrench to carefully loosen and remove the nuts. Note: Avoid using a drill to prevent damaging the nuts and bolts. Step 3: Position the Wheel Find an object smaller than the diameter of the wheel. Place this object underneath the outside of the wheel to support it during adjustments. Step 4: Align the Wheel Hub Examine the alignment of the wheel hub inside the tire. Adjust the alignment until it's perfectly aligned along the edge of the tire. Work on it until it appears even and centered. Step 5: Tighten Screws Begin tightening one screw slightly. Move to a second screw, ensuring to follow a cross pattern. Check the alignment after each tightening. Continue this process until all screws are tightened evenly. Step 6: Final Adjustments Once all screws are tight and the wheel hub is centered, ensure it's secure in that position. Re-check the alignment and make any necessary final adjustments for perfect alignment. Step 7: Re-inflate the Tire Use a tire inflator to re-inflate the tire to the recommended pressure. Ensure the tire is properly inflated for safe operation. By following these detailed steps, you should be able to center the wheel hub on the tire effectively, resulting in smoother operation. X-Quad - Tie Rod Adjustment & Alignment
If you're experiencing any irregularities or bumpiness in your X-Quad front wheels, it may indicate that your wheels are misaligned. Check the alignment of your wheels. If any of the front wheels are turning outward or inward, it's an indication that the tie rods need adjustment. Watch the How to Video -> Follow these steps to adjust your front two tie rods for optimal tire performance: Step 1: Gather Necessary Tools You only need an adjustable wrench for this task. Step 2: Locate the Tie Rods Find the tie rods on both sides of your front wheels. Each tie rod has two locking nuts on either side. They are black. Step 3: Loosen the Locking Nuts Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the locking nuts on both ends of the tie rods on each side of your X-Quad. Step 4: Adjust the Tie Rods Once the nuts are loose, you can begin to start turn the tie rod using your hand. The direction in which you turn depends on the misalignment of your wheel. If the wheel is pointing inward, turn the tie rod outward (away from the chassis). If the wheel is pointing outward, turn the tie rod inward (towards the chassis). Step 5: Check the Alignment After adjusting, check the alignment of the wheels. The goal is to have both wheels perfectly straight. Step 6: Fine-Tune the Adjustment If needed, continue to adjust the tie rod slightly until the wheels are perfectly aligned. Step 7: Recheck After Lowering the Vehicle: If the vehicle was raised during adjustment, lower it back to the ground. Recheck the alignment and make further adjustments if necessary. Step 8: Tighten the Locking Nuts Once the wheels are properly aligned, carefully tighten the locking nuts on the tie rods without moving the tie rod. This ensures the alignment stays intact. Step 9: Final Inspection Double-check the alignment to ensure the wheels are not towing in or out. Ensure that your ride is smooth and free from any jittery or bumpy feelings. Step 10: Test Drive Take the vehicle for a test drive to confirm that the adjustments have improved the alignment and handling. Step 11: Ready to Ride Your tie rods are now properly adjusted, which should improve tire tread wear and overall ride quality. By following these simple steps, your X-Quad should be riding much smoother and give a overall better experience.
